01 Mar 2010 : Fresh start for Liss Cricket Club
As many might have heard we have had to disband our first team from the league due to losing some players. Unfortunately there was not a lot else we could do and this is something we have had to deal with quickly due to registration procedures etc. On a plus note the new season is approaching fast and the whites are getting dusted off and the willow is out after laying dorment for the winter. Positive thoughts this year from us all at Liss, gain promotion and work our way up. We can only look forward now, no point in watching the past. This can be a great season if we all pull together as a club, not just the team on the field but the whole club. We need as much help as possible with everything this year including the off field duties. I hope we have another fantastic season at Liss best of luck everyone.

21 Aug 2009 : Good Luck Boys For Last Two Games
Hello all. Just wanted to write a quick good luck to all the 1st teams lads for their last two games. Two more wins for complete domination but i believe one more win and its bronze next year. There have been some good individual performances throughout the year but as a team Liss have out played and out bantered all opposition. Gaining southern league status will be great for Liss CC but especially it will be good reward for all you boys that put in a lot effort on and off the field (thats not always recorgnised). I have all faith in two wins so its just up to good individual performances to get your hands on the much coverted Liss CC awards, im sure batting, bowling and players player are still in the balance. So good luck lads and make sure you rest well over the winter ready to batter Liphook next year..........................Fingers crossed for good weather next week and ill prepare a road for a last games run fest. 16 Aug 2009 : Stunning Innings From Munt Leads 1st XI To 11th Successive Victory
Liss arrived at Bramshaw on Saturday high on confidence after easily beating Fawley the previous weekend. Captain Pleace Jnr won the toss and elected to bowl on what looked a decent surface with a tinge of grass on top. Baul and Janczur opened the bowling and uncharacteristically got Liss off to a poor start. The Bramshaw batsmen attacked the opening pair like no one else had all year and quickly had raced into an excellent position at 39/0 off 4 overs. Janczur and Baul managed to drag Liss back into the game with 3 quick wickets between them but opener and opposition captain Hart continued to find boundaries easy to come by, he was ably supported by Stuchbury. Cover came on as first change and instantly put a stop to Hart's quick scoring as he plugged away with some probing swing bowling, constantly asking questions of the opposition batsmen. He continued to bowl with great accuracy as he accounted for the main wickets of Hart and Stuchbury although receiving little support from his fellow bowlers. Cover finished with great figures of 4-39 from his 10 overs and ensured the opponents total was well within reach. Bramshaw were the first side to have survived a full 50 overs against the Liss bowling attack. Liss will feel with some slightly tighter bowling and fielders taking tough half chances they would have been able to restrict the opposition to under 200. Liss opened with Munt and Cover for the second successive week hoping to gain full batting points for the first time in the season. The pair made a cautious start having a look at what the opposition opening bowlers had to offer. Liss lost Cover early for 12 and this brought Hall to join Munt at the crease. Munt then took it upon himself to up the aggression as he took the attack to each of the Bramshaw's bowlers regularly finding the boundary with some stunning shots. He was supported well by Hall until poor shot selection brought the end of his innings. Pleace Jnr was next to join Munt and the pair put on a quickfire partnership of 30 with all of the runs being scored by Munt before the captain fell on the wrong side of an LBW decision for 0. Munt was then joined by Martin and the pair continued the excellent scoring rate against the change bowlers. Munt then brought up the first league hundred of his career with his poorest shot of the day as the ball squirmed down to third man. It marked a superb individual effort from Munt in crucial circumstances. He continued to bat aggressively scoring at better than run a ball throughout his innings until it came to a tame end as he chipped straight to mid wicket. Munt's brilliant chanceless innings of 133 consisted of 18 fours and 5 sixes and was his top score in league cricket. Martin continued his innings showing great responsibility and shot selection as he eased Liss across the line with 12 overs to spare finishing on 28 not out. Liss have now won 11 games out of 11 maintaining there 100% record in the league, and with all there fellow competitors falling around them the 1st XI look on course to win County Division 1 and achieve their goal of SPL cricket. The only thing that looks like it can stop them now is complacency. The 1st XI travel to Porchester next week in a bid for there 12th successive victory.

09 Aug 2009 : Baul And Janczur Tear Through Fawley As 1st XI Make It 10 from 10
Liss turned up at The Glebe on the back of a month without any league cricket. Liss won the toss and elected to field on what looked a good pitch with a tinge of green. Baul and Janczur both recovering from illness opened the attack and got Liss off to a brilliant start with Baul bowling with accuracy and Janczur with great hostility, the pair started to create inroads into the Fawley batting line up. Janczur picked up the wicket of Leach which was soon followed by Baul picking up three quick wickets. Fawley were in deep trouble and this was compounded by some very poor shot selection which brought another couple of wickets for Janczur. The opening pair continued to tear through the oppositions middle order to leave them in a terrible state after 20 overs on 84-8 with Baul and Janczur finishing with great figures of 4-27 and 4-47 respectively. Murphy then came into the attack and picked up the two remaining wickets to fall with Fawley finishing on a below par 118 all out. Although Baul and Janczur bowled well and consistently put the ball in good areas the opposition must feel that if they had weathered the new ball spell they may have been able to push towards 200 on what was a good batting wicket. Munt and Cover opened the batting for the first team this season and started in extremely positive fashion instantly going after the Fawley openers. The pair continued there fine form dispatching Morgan and Forrest to the boundary with consummate ease. Liss lost their first wicket on 69 in the ninth over with Cover falling for a well made 29. Munt was next to fall for an impressive 38. This brought Hall and Pleace Jnr together at the crease and the pair continued the aggressive intent looking at ease against the change bowlers. Liss chases the target with 35 overs still remaining and Pleace Jnr finishing on 28 not out. Liss will be very happy that they have not lost any of the momentum they were carrying before the break in games. Liss will go to Bramshaw in high confidence that they can make it 11 wins out of 11 and maintain there 100% record.
