Liss Cricket Club

Liss Cricket Club Ashurst XI squad

Ashurst XI

Captain : Richard Pleace Jnr

Richard had another good season last year scoring 658 league runs and averaging 65.80. Year upon year rick has broken his own and other batting records in the league and within the club, and yet again in 2016 claimed the league batting award. A superb temperament means he is almost impossible to remove. His bowling is not bad either and is always handy to have in reserve. After 20 years of being 1st team captain Rick has stepped down. In 2017 he can relax and really concentrate on scoring some runs.

Vice Captain : Chris Allcock

Chris is Liss CC through and through and gives his all each week. You know what your going to get when Chris is at the crease with an ability to score runs quickly and change an innings. The defensive side of his game may need some work but with solid players around him his aggressive tactics can play to Liss's advantage. He always gives 100% in the field and will never give up the chase. Chris is team manager in 2017 and will look to organise the team for Captain Jack.
Players
Lawrence Baker
Lawrence is a greatly valued member of Liss Cricket Club. A bowler who has taken hundreds of wickets over the years will be looking to help the 2nd XI with handfuls of wickets again. Another successful year in 2017 saw him bag 11 league wickets at an average of 19.91, conceding a, as usual, miserly 2.61 runs an over. A talented and very consistent bowler with the ability to change the game during his spells with the ball. The question is can Lawrence's ankle take another year of his unconventional fielding style?
Liam Charles
Liam is the gentle giant of Liss. He has great ability with the ball and will look to increase his wicket tally in 2017. His energy and encouragement is good for the team and will always be around at the end of an innings to slap it around.
George Davy
In 2017 played his first consistent year with the 2nd XI. A very promising, young, prospect in all aspects of the game, Rodders will be looking to develop his skills in the 2018 season and put in match-winning performances for the 2nd XI
Matty Evans
Sadly a Southampton fan but despite this major flaw, Matty is an extraordinarily talented player in all aspects of the game. After a couple of seasons flitting between the 1st XI and the 2nd XI, Matty will be looking to impress his captain with match-winning performances and drive the 2nd XI up the leagues.
Gavin Kemp
Gavin is a hard hitting batsman that can tear apart an opposition attack. Gavin will be looking to really impose himself this year and keep the opposition on the back foot scoring plenty of runs on the way. Taking over as keeper this years gives him the opportunity to get his trampoline hands out.
Phil Moore
Phil had a good season in 2016. A batsmen on the up, Phil is improving year on year and will be looking to build on his run total in 2016. He has great ability in the field and has the safest hands in the team. This year he is also being let loose with the ball and if he can pitch it in the batsmen's half he will be a threat. Phil's confidence is growing with every game and will be a great asset to the club.
Robbie Pearce
Robbie is the first teams wicket keeper and middle order batsmen. His sharpness behind the stumps gets a lot of wickets and his batting experience will help Liss continue climbing up the leagues.
Richard Pleace Snr
The life and soul of Liss cricket club whether playing or in the bar after the game. He strikes fear into the opposition batsmen with his flighted deliveries and can hold up an end when needed.Taking a total of 31 league wickets in 2013 Snr showed its not all about pace but experience as well. Richard has done a massive amount for Liss over the years and still continues to give (even if it is with awful jokes and money behind the bar!)...
