Liss Cricket Club 1st XI v Aldershot IV on Sat 21 May 2011 at 2pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 180 runs

Match report Liss won the toss and decided to bat first. The home side did not get off to a great start loosing C.Sharp in the 2nd over. This brought R.Pleace jnr to the crease in need of some runs. Along side T.Richardson, Pleace began to take the game to the Aldershot bowlers. Some early drops were looking to be costing the visitors dearly with the ball now being despatched all round the ground. The visitors were really struggling to find their line and length with both batsmen capitalising. Richardson fell in the 15th over with the score on 83 bringing Kemp to the crease. Pleace moved past 50 and was really making Aldershot pay for some slack fielding. The score was increasing at a healthy rate and at the halfway mark Liss had already reached 131-2. Kemp quicky moved past fifty and Pleace notched up his 100 with a boundary. The fielding side started to look as if they were loosing heart with the ball going all over. Pleace and Kemp were really opening up their shoulders, both hitting a string of boudaries. Aldershot varied the bowling but the batsmen seemed to take all that was thrown at them and were posting a large total. Pleace ended up 175 not out and Kemp 89 not out. Liss finished their overs on 332-2.
Baker and Southam opened the bowling for Liss and Baker immediately hit his consistent line an length. Baker made the breakthrough in his 2nd over with the score on 20. The visitors new they were up against it so were really attacking early on. The introduction of Parrott had an immediate effect taking a wicket in his first over, along with Baker he was really causing Aldershot trouble. Both bowlers picked up two wickets in their spell. Richardson and Pleace snr were now into the attack. Richardson was bowling with such swing that the batsmen could not get anywhere near the ball. Pleace snr picked up two wickets early in his spell causing Aldershot to close up shop and try and get as many points as they could. Richardson did not pick up any wickets but went for only 15 runs in his 9 overs. Pleace did pick up a 3rd wicket in his last over leaving Aldershot on 152-7 from the 42 overs. Another good win for Liss, they are now 3 from 3 so far in the league. Good news continued for Liss with their Under 11’s team picking up their first ever win to the great delight of manager Gary kemp.
