Four Marks v Liss Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 28 Jul 2012 at 2.00pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report After beating top of the league last week Liss travelled to 2nd place Four Marks with some confidents. Four Marks chose to bat and got off to a quick start. With some big shots down the ground both openers were scoring and had amassed 40 runs from the first 10 overs. Some dropped catches and extras from the bowlers were giving the home side a comfortable ride and the runs kept coming. A change of bowling took the pace of and Pleace snr struck in his 2nd over having the captain Burrows caught in the deep for 39. At this point the run rate started to slow. Pleace jnr now into the bowling attack and in his 2nd over also dismissed the other opener Moody for 32. Four Marks were now 79-2 at the halfway point. Pleace snr continued to bowl a nagging length and picked up his 2nd in the 23rd over with the score on 83. The big shots were still coming from the home side and along with some luck they moved onto 97 before Pleace jnr joined his father on two wickets and Four Marks on 97-4. It looked as though Liss had broken through the defence and Pleace snr continued to take wickets and took another 3 in his last 2 overs leaving him with his 2nd 5 wicket haul in 2 weeks. P.Moore came onto bowl right at end picked up two wickets in just 3 overs. It was left to Parrott to return to the action and with just one delivery of his returning over finished of the home side who were all out for 118 and great comeback by Liss.
With a low target to chase Liss made sure they made a steady start and openers Sharp and Pleace jnr were not taking any chances early on. The pitch was slowing up and with a good length being bowled it was not easy to get away. After 10 overs Liss were only on 17 but had plenty of time to chase down the total. Pleace jnr then started to pick up boundaries and the score was creeping up without the loss of any wickets. At the halfway point Liss were now on 58-0. Pleace only added 1 more run before he was caught for 28. Liss quickly lost their 2nd wicket with Sharp also falling for 28. Murphy and Moore looked as if they could build a partnership to win the game but Murphy was dismissed playing one too many big shots. Liss had started to falter a little. Radford added a quick 10 before he was caught and this was followed by another 2 wickets falling without a run being scored. The score was now 102-6 and Liss were making this hard work. It was left to Moore to steady the ship. Still at the crease he knocked the ball around nicely. He finished the game off in the 37th over and top scored with 36 not out. Liss are now up to 3rd and are looking on course for their 2nd successive promotion.
