Petersfield II v Liss Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 11 Aug 2012 at 2.00pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 166 runs

Match report It was a local derby this week as Liss were the visitors to Petersfield II at the Heath. Petersfield won the toss and put Liss into bat. Colin Sharp opened up with Pleace jnr and the pair made a solid start. Although the bowlers were bowling quite a tight line the odd bad ball was being dispatched to the boundary. Sharp and Pleace saw off the openers and after 10 over’s Liss were 48 without loss. Both batsmen looked comfortable and a change of bowling did not have much effect. Pleace jnr went past his 50 with a flurry of boundaries and looked to have his eye in. After an opening partnership of 109 Sharp was caught for 26 of the bowling of Charles. After this solid start Liss then lost a few quick wickets Murphy for 2 Kemp jnr 12 and Radford for just 1. Luckily Pleace was still smashing the ball to all parts and took himself past 100. Allcock joined Pleace with the score at 165-4. A few fielding errors saw some Petersfield heads drop. After being dropped on 128 Pleace jnr really opened up his shoulders. Allcock began to pick up boundaries as well and the pair quickly put on 101 partnership before Pleace jnr was bowled by Blanks for a fantastic 182. Allcock the fell for 20 and it was left to Brownlee and Kemp jnr to finish the innings off on a total of 273-6.
It was a big task ahead of the home side and they got off to a slow start. Tight bowling from both Parrott and Lawrence Baker had the batsmen tied down and after 12 over’s Petersfieild were on just 26. Baker picked up his first wicket having Salmon caught for 8. The bowling continued on a tight line and risks were being taken C.Shore was soon ran out for just 1 closely followed by Bakers 2nd wicket that of H.Shore for 2. A change in pace saw Murphy and Pleace snr join the attack. Pleace picked up a wicket with just his third ball and Murphy soon after bowling T.Austin for 9. Petersfield were now 52-5 and struggling. Blanks looked as though he was going to go for it rather than block the game out before he was caught for 19 bringing Pleace snr’s 2nd wicket. Pleace continued to bowl his nagging pace and length and continued to pick up wickets with 3 more wickets in 3 over’s he snatched his 3rd 5 wicket haul in 3 games and the home side had slumped to 96-9. There had been some late resistance from Liam Smith with a good knock of 22 but Pleace snr had the final word with his sixth wicket finishing with figures of 8-1-32-6. Petersfield were all out for 108. Liss have now moved up to third in the league.
