Liss Cricket Club 1st XI v Sherfield on Loddon on Sat 22 Jun 2013 at 2.00pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 67 runs

Match report
Liss won the toss and batted first. Phil Moore opened up with Richard Pleace jnr and after the pair started a little slowly they found their feet and began to knock the ball about. Liss had moved onto 44 before Pleace was caught for 14. Kemp joined Moore and they pushed the score onto 60 before Kemp was caught. The home side then lost 2 more wickets for just 7 runs and were 67-4 at the halfway point. Liss have had batting in depth this season and this was proved again. Owen Murphy was now Moore’s partner and this aggressive pairing soon set about the Sherfield bowling attack. Moore was batting superbly and holding the innings together and alongside big hitting Murphy Liss had picked up the run rate . Sherfield bowlers were still bowling tight and a few chances went begging but the two batsmen went past their half centuries and were starting to set and competitive total. Moore was eventually caught for a fine 77 and Murphy bowled for 64. With another valuable 22 runs added by Johns and Small Liss fell just short of the 200 and posted 197 from their 42 overs.
Hedicker and Southam opened the bowling and after a few loose deliveries Southam struck bowling Dummer for 6. The visitors added just 20 before Southam picked up his 2nd and Moore snatching a great catch for Hedicker’s first wicket. Sherfield were 48-3 but had their strongest batsmen Grant at the crease. A change of attack saw the skipper Pleace jnr and Jimmy Small come onto bowl. Pleace struck immediately and Sherfield looked to be struggling on 59-4. Grant then started to play some shots and looked comfortable but Pleace then bowled a double wicket over and the batting side found themselves 77-6. Grant was running out of partners and tried to put his foot down but just as he was getting going was caught and bowled for 31. Liss had victory in their sights and brought Pleace snr on to clear up the tail. Nixon had other ideas and wanted to go down with a fight, a few hefty blows took Sherfield past 100 and frustrated the home side. But as soon as Pleace snr had warmed up picked up 3 quick wickets and Liss had bowled Sherfield on Lodden out for 130. Another win for Liss and their 100% record keeps them top of the league.
