Oakley v Liss Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 29 Jun 2013 at 2.00pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 168 runs

Match report Another great performance keeps Liss on top. Liss travelled away to Oakley and batted first. It was not the best start losing Sharp in the first over but Pleace jnr and Moore soon settled things down. Pleace seem to settle and a string of boundaries pushed the score quickly onto 38 before Moore was bowled by a good delivery from Holbrook. Murphy came to the crease and after a 50 last week continued in the same vain. Liss were really starting to take advantage of the short boundaries and although Oakley were really putting a shift in and fielding well both Pleace and Murphy were racking up the runs. Pleace soon reached his 50 and after 21 overs Liss were 104-2. Murphy gave a couple of chances but Oakley did not take advantage and heads were beginning to drop. A four from Murphy brought up his half century and Pleace was moving quickly towards 100 dispatching the ball into every field surrounding the ground. A good slow delivery from Brundle caught Pleace out and he fell for 97. Kemp was next in and began timing the ball from the word go. The boundaries were really flowing now and Kemp had his foot to the floor taking Liss past 200 with 9 overs still to go. He soon brought up a very quick 50 before being caught and Cowell only lasting a few deliveries before also being caught and Murphy finally dismissed for 58.The score was now 249-6 with Pearce and Allcock batting. The pair continued to add runs as the overs were running out and the fielding side were really dismayed. The final score posted was a superb 273-7.
It was a big score but Liss still needed to concentrate and made a good start with Hedicker having Welsman caught for just 4 in the first over. Both Hedicker and Cowell continued to bowl well and kept the run rate low but the Oakley batsmen were not just going to give their wicket away and started to grind out some runs and picked up some boundaries. A partnership of 38 was formed before Cowell picked up a wicket leaving Oakley 42-2. A change in pace from both ends brought Small and Pleace snr into the attack and the wickets started to fall. Pleace picked up 4 wickets in his first 3 overs thanks to the hands of Phil Moore and Small chipped in with the wicket of Savage. Oakley had collapsed to 67-7. Murphy replaced Small and struck with his first delivery and Pleace snr picked up his 5 wicket haul with another catch from Moore. Liss had field really well and held 7 catches. It was left to Murphy to clean up the innings and Liss bowled Oakley out for 105 in 30 overs. Liss stay top of the league and the good form continues.
