Liss Cricket Club 1st XI v Mottisfont on Sat 31 May 2014 at 2.00pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets

Match report Liss continued there good start to the season with a comprehensive win over Mottisfont. Liss bowled first on a slightly soft track and made an immediate breakthrough with Cowell dismissing the opening bat off just the 3rd delivery of the game. 0-1 was a fantastic start but Blake came to the crease and looked to change that immediately. He started very aggressively and although both Cowell and Wrenn were bowling a good spell boundaries started to mount. The score moved onto 48 before Cowell picked up his 2nd and 3rd wickets in successive overs, with stunning catches from Kemp and Pleace jnr, pegged Mottisfont back to 56-3 although the dangerous looking Blake was still batting well. A change up in the bowling saw Hedicker and Small come on to see what they could do. Blake past his 50 and a partnership was starting to form before Pleace snr caught a rocket in covers of the bowling of Small and Blake was gone for 57 and the visitors were now starting to struggle on 82-4. Heddicker was the next to strike picking up the wicket of Barnes for 14 and Liss were starting to turn the screw. The total had reached 94-5 but the change of pace from Small and the slower pace from new bowler Pleace snr had the Mottisfont tail in bother. Small picked up another 2 wickets finishing on stunning figures of 3-10 and Pleace snr only needing to bowl 1.2 overs picked up 2 wickets with a run being scored. Liss had bowled Mottisfont out for just 100.
For full points Liss needed to chase the score down without losing a wicket and Pleace jnr and Kemp looked comfortable early. Kemp struck to early boundaries but unfortunately was caught going for another. 12-1 Liss did not want to loose any more. Wrenn joined Pleace and set about his work very aggressively. Boundary after boundary came from the pair and the home side looked to wrap this up early. Staring at defeat Mottisfont continued to change the bowling but nothing was working. Wrenn quickly past his 50 and Pleace jnr, the usual run machine just watched from the other end. Liss reached their total in 11.4 overs Pleace 34 and Wrenn 56. A great start to the new league and next week Liss are hoping to continue at home to Winterslow.
