Bedhampton v Liss Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 23 May 2009 at 1pm
Liss Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report 1st XI Win Again As Baul Rips Through Bedhampton

Liss went into the third week of the season full of confidence on the back of an impressive team performance against Ryde.

Pleace Jnr lost the toss and Bedhampton chose to bat first on what looked a excellent batting wicket. Liss opened with the usual attack of Baul and Janczur. Liss got off to the best possible start with Baul beating opening batsman wake for pace and trapping him LBW on the very first ball of the innings.

Baul continued to bowl quickly and accurately and was just to good for the Bedhampton top order leaving them reeling on 11-4. Only Hovey offered some resistance when dispatching any lose balls the openers bowled. Janczur managed to pick up two wickets after struggling to find his rhythm throughout his spell.

After Baul had completed his excellent spell of 10 overs removing Bedhampton's top five batsman with figures of 5-26 giving him his first five wicket haul for Liss in the league. Cover then came on and picked up a wicket in his one over bowled and Murphy picked up two in two balls in his only over to wrap things up for 69 all out which would be deemed a massively below par score.

Liss opened up with Pleace Jnr and Martin and both started confidently quickly pushing the score on to 33 without loss before the first wicket fell. After Bedhampton's openers struggled to find the breakthrough, overseas leg spinner Jackson was brought in to the attack with almost instant success. He managed to bowl Pleace Jnr around his legs as he tried to sweep. This brought Hall to the crease, Hall blocked his first two deliveries before holing out to long off to an excellent catch to give Jackson his second wicket. Munt then came to the crease and went about seeing off the spinner and attacking the seamers. Martin after looking comfortable at the crease then threw his wicket away charging Jackson and getting stumped leaving Liss in trouble at 44-3. Cover joined Munt at the crease and quickly fell LBW to Jackson for 5 to leave Liss 49-4.

Then Munt trying to finish things quickly fell to Mcfawn for 16. This left Liss on 53-5 with only James and Lee left at the crease as recognised batsmen. Fortunatly for Liss Lee was in belligerent mood and crunched three quick fours to give Liss victory.

A great performance in the field was then followed by a sloppy batting performance. Liss's batsmen will need to go into next weeks top of the table clash with South Wilts valuing there wickets with a lot more importance.
