Liss Cricket Club 1st XI v Fawley on Sat 08 Aug 2009 at 1pm
Liss Cricket Club Won By 7 Wickets

Match report Liss turned up at The Glebe on the back of a month without any league cricket. Liss won the toss and elected to field on what looked a good pitch with a tinge of green.

Baul and Janczur both recovering from illness opened the attack and got Liss off to a brilliant start with Baul bowling with accuracy and Janczur with great hostility, the pair started to create inroads into the Fawley batting line up. Janczur picked up the wicket of Leach which was soon followed by Baul picking up three quick wickets. Fawley were in deep trouble and this was compounded by some very poor shot selection which brought another couple of wickets for Janczur. The opening pair continued to tear through the oppositions middle order to leave them in a terrible state after 20 overs on 84-8 with Baul and Janczur finishing with great figures of 4-27 and 4-47 respectively.

Murphy then came into the attack and picked up the two remaining wickets to fall with Fawley finishing on a below par 118 all out. Although Baul and Janczur bowled well and consistently put the ball in good areas the opposition must feel that if they had weathered the new ball spell they may have been able to push towards 200 on what was a good batting wicket.

Munt and Cover opened the batting for the first team this season and started in extremely positive fashion instantly going after the Fawley openers. The pair continued there fine form dispatching Morgan and Forrest to the boundary with consummate ease. Liss lost their first wicket on 69 in the ninth over with Cover falling for a well made 29. Munt was next to fall for an impressive 38.

This brought Hall and Pleace Jnr together at the crease and the pair continued the aggressive intent looking at ease against the change bowlers. Liss chases the target with 35 overs still remaining and Pleace Jnr finishing on 28 not out. Liss will be very happy that they have not lost any of the momentum they were carrying before the break in games.

Liss will go to Bramshaw in high confidence that they can make it 11 wins out of 11 and maintain there 100% record.
